What I'm working on

Within Good and Evil

I am currently working on my first book, tentatively titled “Within Good and Evil: A Nietzschean Christian Apologia.” This book examines the way in which the philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, commonly thought as the ultimate anti-Christian, actually reveals arguments and concepts within his own work that I argue are indicative of the Christian background he tried so hard to escape—and argue that Christians can learn a lot from Nietzsche. Born in a long line of Christian pastors, Nietzsche grew up reading the work of another pastor’s child—Ralph Waldo Emerson—before formulating his ideology of aristocratic radicalism. By reading Nietzsche and Emerson’s works through the lens of various theologies, I demonstrate just how much their upbringings shaped their philosophies. I also analyze the work of René Girard and Georges Bataille, pitting them both as foils and as unwitting collaborators in their supposedly differing views on Nietzsche. I also reinterpret the book of Job, the Gospels, and the Acts of the Apostles through a Nietzschean lens.

Other projects

I am currently working on my Master's thesis, which is a critical analysis of how “objective” conceptions of guilt and innocence are shaped in a supposedly postmodern world. I am also working on a collection of horror short stories, mixing philosophical and theological concepts with existential, psychological, and bodily horror. More information will be provided here soon.
